Ever since its reveal at E3, Bungie has told fans that Destiny's expansion, The Taken King, will be well worth the hefty $40 price tag it carries. But aside from some vague details, they've yet to really justify that price.
That changed today when Bungie took to the Weekly Update to prove that The Taken King "is more than DLC — it's a game." But before they get into the exact specifics, they first revealed "What's in the box?"
Here's what your $40 will get you in The Taken King:
Not everything is detailed yet, but at least we now know the content and features that'll form "the baseline" of every version of Destiny: The Taken King. But there's much more beyond just new content. Going forward, Bungie will not only talk more about The Taken King's new content, but will also explore other topics related to Destiny, including "weapon rebalancing, economy improvements, an overhauled quest experience, bounty enhancements, faction allegiences, end game content, and more."
"We’ve learned a lot these last ten months – about the game as well as the people we’re playing it with," Bungie said. "If you’ve been adventuring alongside us through The Dark Below and House of Wolves, you know our creative process follows an evolving playbook. The Taken King will present its own unique leap forward, and we’re excited to unpack it for you this summer."
With all the heat Bungie has taken over The Taken King, it's nice to see them finally come out and set the record straight. It's hard to say right now if it's worth the $40 price they're asking, but I'm sure you'll be able to make up your own mind as more specifics are revealed in the coming weeks.
