Last month during a huge information drop on Halo 5: Guardians, we got some of our first tidbits of details on the two teams in the game: Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris. At the time it was unclear on how the teams presence would affect gameplay, but 343 Industries has made a couple of things clear.
The Master Chief led Blue Team and the Spartan Locke led Fireteam Osiris will contrast one another. The Blue Team will keep core themes from previous Halo games. According to 343 the Blue Team will "have a heavier, more weathered feel. Their technology is proven, reliable, and practical in nature."
Fireteam Osiris on the other hand will represent a new generation of Spartan, "their armor is sleek and modern, technologically advanced and displaying less wear."
Each team member will be AI-controlled while playing the solo campaign. Otherwise, you can play drop-in/drop-out co-op with the teams.
Before we get into the details, here's a refresher on the team (as far as we know):
Blue Team:
- Master Chief
- Kelly
- Linda
- Fred
Fireteam Osiris:
- Agent Locke
- Kelly-087
- Tanaka
- Edward Buck (Nathan Fillion)
Each member of the team will have unique charactics, weapons and skills. 343 has shared a good amount of information on the characters and their gameplay.
"While the core gameplay and controls remain the same, each character has a unique set of starting Loadout weapons. Linda has her signature Sniper Rifle, while the Chief maintains his classic AR.
Naturally, all of the characters can acquire and use other weapons and vehicles along the way. There are also subtle differences between the characters in terms of attributes. For example: Kelly is the fastest member of Blue Team, while Tanaka has increased motion tracker range.
Depending on which team member you are controlling at any given time, your perspective on the story may shift as you experience slight contextual differences in dialogue. It’s a subtle thing and the core of the story always remains the same, but it’s something we hope will be appreciated by fans and add to the replay value of the co-op campaign."
