Here’s the favorite to play Star-Lord’s father in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Acclaimed actor Kurt Russell, star of recent action flicks The Hateful Eight and Furious 7, is reportedly James Gun's top choice to play Star-Lord's father in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Although the role has not been offered to Kurt Russell yet, The Wrap cites multiple sources as indicating he is director James Gunn's top choice to play the father of Chris Pratt (aka Star-Lord) in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 when it releases in 2017. Meetings are supposedly scheduled to start soon between all parties involved as production is slated to begin early next year. The release date for Guardians 2 is currently slated for May 5, 2017 and for now looks to be on track with no delays as of yet.

Kurt Russell seems like the perfect choice for this role. He has a huge range of personalities he can play, from his roles in parody like films such as Big Trouble in Little China to others such as Tango and Cash and Executive Decision. Kurt Russell is a choice that elicits the "Oh, Awesome!" response when you hear it's him that is up for the part. Hopefully we'll hear more soon and we'll let you know when we do.
