Back in June, Dying Light developer Techland launched the #DrinkForDLC campaign, essentially poking fun at Activision's promotion which required players of the sci-fi shooter to purchase cans of Red Bull Energy Drink in order to gain early access to a special quest in the Destiny: The Taken King expansion. What started off as a joke became a reality when Techland promised fans free DLC packs driven by fans reaching successive stretch goals by continuing to post pictures of themselves drinking water and tagging them with #DrinkForDLC on Twitter.
It was a roaring success with the community, with the hashtag reaching more than 15 million people and resulting in over 15,000 photos and videos of fans drinking water. And now we finally know what the free DLC will consist off.
Announced today, Techland detaile the contents of the three-part DLC pack which will be free for all Dying Light players. The #DrinkForDLC content pack will include the following:
- The Fountain of Youth – all-new exploration-based quest available in the Old Town area.
- Water 2.0 – blueprint for a new throwable weapon that intensifies the electrocution effect of all other weapons.
- Water Challenges – two brand-new parkour challenges designed around the theme of water.
The #DrinkForDLC content pack will be included in the recently announced Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition, which releases on February 9, 2016. For those who already own the standalone game, you'll receive the DLC as part of the free improvements update which will be made available on the same day.
