Last week, Bungie detailed Destiny's first expansion, "The Dark Below," which is set for release on December 9, 2014. Priced at $19.99 (or available at a slight discount through the Destiny Expansion Pass), the new DLC will offer players new weapons and gear to earn through new story, cooperative and multiplayer activities.
But what happens if you don't plan on buying the new expansion? Will Guardians who skip out on The Dark Below be left in the dust? Well, kind of — but Bungie says there will still be "some updates and alterations" that every player will be able to enjoy regardless of whether or not they purchase The Dark Below.
According to Bungie, all players will benefit from "some" new Weapons and Armor, new daily bounties, and five additional bounty slots.
It's unclear, however, if this new gear will actually allow players who don't purchase The Dark Below to reach the increased Light Level cap to 32. I would assume that the cap will be increased for everyone as to encourage balanced play; although, it's possible the new gear could be exclusive to the new PvE content, like the new six-player raid, Crota's End.
