Here’s which Batgirl we’re getting with Batman: Arkham Knight’s DLC

Arkham Knight game director reveals Batgirl's true identity

Last month, Warner Bros. and Rocksteady announced that Batman: Arkham Knight will have a season pass, because Warner Bros and why the f*ck not?

And, of course,  all we got was the vague promise of six months' worth of "regular new content" that'll include "story missions, super villains, legendary Batmobile skins, advanced challenge maps, alternative skins, and new drivable race tracks."

This week, in response to backlash over the vagueness of the contents, we learned that part of the $39.99 season pass will be a new expansion pack focused on Batgirl. This "new prequel story expansion" will take you to an entirely new location and let you play as Batgirl; although, which female will be behind the mask remained a mystery — until recently.

When asked about Batgirl's identity in Batman: Arkham Knight, game driector Sefton Hill revealed on Twitter: "As a few of you have asked about the DLC, 'who is Batgirl?' I can confirm it is indeed Barbara Gordon."

Barbara Gordon, if the name didn't already give it away, is the daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon. While she wasn't the original Batgirl, she was definitely one of the more iconic versions.

Rocksteady gave us a sneak peek at Batgirl as she'll look in Arkham Knight.

Other content includes "The Season of Infamy" where you'll play as Batman in new story missions featuring "legendary super-villains invading Gotham City, with new story arcs, missions, and gameplay features." The "Gotham City Stories" will let you play as Batman's allies in narrative missions that extend their storylines, from both before and after the events in the main story campaign.

There'll also be new challenge maps, a variety of character skins from across the different eras for Batman, Robin, Knightwing, and Catwoman, as well as custom-built race tracks where you can "drive the most iconic Batmobiles from Batman's 75-year history." Each track is themed to that Batmobile's specific era, and every Batmoile will be drivable across every race track.

The Batman: Arkham Knight Season Pass is available for $39.99.
