Since Microsoft's presence at the this year's annual Game Developers Conference, Xbox head Phil Spencer has been talking about a "unified vision for gaming." This 'vision' would see Xbox One games making their way to PC's with the Xbox App for Windows 10 and having PC games come to the Xbox One, just the same.
Microsoft has made good on this vision by bringing PC games like ARK: Survival Evolved and Starbound to the Xbox One and previously Xbox only games like Fable to Windows 10 (i.e. Fable Legends).
There are some major Microsoft games that won't be joining on Microsoft's vision: Scalebound, Crackdown 3 and Quantum Break. Why not? Phil Spencer explained to PC Gamer that he wasn't about to walk up to the developers who are so far in development on these games and tell them to add a new platform to the mix.
"In the case of things like Scalebound or Crackdown or Quantum Break, you know, just to be completely honest with you, we started those games before we really looked at expanding into Windows in the way that I wanted to bring as part of becoming head of Xbox.
"Going to those teams mid-cycle and saying: ‘Hey, by the way, I want to add a platform,’ didn’t really feel like necessarily the best way to end up with the best result for the game."
In order to preserve the game's quality, Microsoft didn't push the developers to bring the games over. As a consumer, that's not a bad deal — that means there won't be any half-assed ports in our future.
Spencer did go on to say that they could make a jump to PC in the future, "It's not to say those games could never come to Windows, but right now we're on the path to finish the great games that they've started, and I want that to be the case."
