Continuing to expand the catalog of PlayStation 2 games playable on PS4, Sony announced that classic RPG Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits will get a digital re-release this week.
According to Sony's latest blog post, Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits will be playable on PS4 on Tuesday, January 12th. "For years, the Humans and the Deimos have been at war in their struggle to capture the Great Spirit Stones," the description reads. "To the Humans, the stones represent a magical source of power and light. To the Deimos, the stones are the viable force behind their spell-casting abilities. But fate is about to place the future of both races in the hands of two men."
There are 10 PlayStation 2 games now playable on PlayStation 4, including Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Vice City, Twisted Metal: Black, and PaRappa the Rapper. Sony is currently looking for feedback on which PS2 games should be added to the PS4's backward compatibility catalog.
Unlike the Xbox One's backward compatibility functionality, which allows you to play Xbox 360 games you already own for free on Xbox One, Sony charges you again to play these older titles. And it doesn't come cheap. Prices to play these PS2 classics range from $9.99 all the way up to $14.99, price points that PlayStation president Shuhei Yoshida defended recently. Pricing for Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits has not yet been announced.
