Hideo Kojima has begun production on his next game

It hasn’t even been a year since Death Stranding released and Hideo Kojima has already begun his next game. The acclaimed Japanese developer is already knee-deep in production on the unknown title and is hiring.

Surprisingly enough, Hideo Kojima has also begun recording music for the game. Whether this is for some sort of teaser trailer or the final game is a mystery. While we don’t know what the game is, we may get details sooner rather than later. Hideo Kojima started Kojima Productions in December 2015 and revealed Death Stranding in June 2016.

The game didn’t release for another 3 years but it gave us something to chew on for a bit. Some have speculated that Hideo Kojima is making a horror game, potentially reusing ideas from his scrapped Silent Hill game. It could also be a sequel to Death Stranding. It’s a mystery right now! Whatever the case may be, it could release within the next few years thanks to Guerilla’s engine, which was used on Death Stranding. This allows them to share assets and not have to build their games from the ground-up.

The new title will be the second game from Hideo Kojima since parting ways with his former collaborator, Konami, in 2015. The acclaimed developer left after a reportedly messy development on Metal Gear Solid V, which resulted in all kinds of controversy. The conflict also meant his highly-anticipated Silent Hill game was axed. Just a few months after his Konami departure, Sony agreed to partner with him and fund his next game.

Kojima Productions remains an independent studio but his Sony partnership seemed to pay off. If we had to guess, Hideo Kojima will likely partner with Sony once again and release his next game on PS5.
