Hitman will use DirectX 12

It appears that the upcoming Hitman game will make use of Microsoft's DirectX 12, according to a panel being given at GDC. Spotted by Gamingbolt, the panel is titled "Rendering Hitman with DirectX 12".

Now, if that doesn't get you interested in just how powerful the game is going to be, the official description of the panel may. It reads:

“This talk will give a brief overview of how the Hitman Renderer works, followed by a deep dive into how we manage everything with DirectX 12, including Pipeline State Objects, Root Signatures, Resources, Command Queues and Multithreading. How to write a fast and efficient DirectX 12 / Vulkan engine, and how to use the new HW features to implement new graphics techniques. Learn from real shipping game developers experiences.

Just last week we learned that Hitman will be entirely episodic, featuring a number of add on packs. With how powerful DirectX12 is, and developers citing a boost of over 20%, it will be interesting to see just how Hitman takes advantage of the new tech.

Previously, Square Enix had mentioned the playable area and density of Hitman's locations "goes beyond anything we've built before. We're striving to create a series of living, breathing worlds in those locations and we get pretty obsessed about every detail that you'll experience."

We'll have more to come after the conference. Hitman launches on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 11th.
