Holy sh*tballs, new pictures from ‘The Walking Dead’ Season 3

Season three of The Walking Dead, returning to AMC this October, is going to be a doozy. Season three is bringing our survivors to the prison — where the most awesome, dangerous and devastating events of the comic took place. The prison, shown at the end of the season two finale, becomes a fortress, home and hope for Rick Grimes and company. Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have two new photos of Rick, Maggie, Glen and T-Dawg fighting off a group of zombies with machetes and pipes.

With the fan favorite Michonne joining the cast, this season looks to be taking a much more action-oriented pace. The prison holds many dangers, but it's the people outside of the prison — like The Govenor — that'll be the main enemy for our group. I'm still not sure how the show is going to handle some of the more gruesome plot details that happened in the comic, but the show has proved that it can weave its own story of how things go down. Still, it's hard to imagine AMC airing some of the things that happens in the comic.

Executive Producer of The Walking Dead, Glen Mazzara, had this to say about the prison setting:

I'm incredibly proud of the prison. I think our crew has done a great job. It's a huge sense of scale and magnitude I haven't seen on any show as far as construction. What's important to us is the prison itself is now a character in the show. It's a haunted house, it's scary, it's frightening, and there are parts of the prison that are always terrifying, that are always inaccessible to our group. It's not necessarily the blessing that the prison in the comic book turned out to be."

So there we have it. A few awesome pictures and a quote from the producer saying that the prison is already going to be different than the comic.

What do you think will happen in the prison? Are there any specific events in the comic that you think will be in the show or cut? Let us know in the comment section below.
