THQ, along with Random House Publishing Group, today announced that a novel set in the same universe as their upcoming first person shooter Homefront will be released alongside the game in early 2011.
The novel will be co-written by New York Times bestselling author Raymond Benson, who has written two Metal Gear Solid books and many James Bond novels, and Red Dawn and Apocalypse Now writer John Milius. It will be published by Random House’s Del Ray imprint.
“Homefront represents a fascinating vision of the near-future,” added John Milius. “After completing my work on the game, it became clear that there were many more stories to tell, and this book will offer a chilling look at this near-future world.”
THQ’s executive vice president of core games, Danny Bilson, is calling the novelization the first element of what will become “a vast transmedia strategy for Homefront.”
Homefront is set for release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows PC in March 2011. It tells the story of a stricken America, fallen to savage military occupation in the year 2027.
