Killzone: Mercenary — which launches today in Europe and on September 10 in North America — will require a day-one patch, reports The Sixth Axis. That's not that uncommon, but the size of the patch is a little troubling, especially if you're buying a digital copy of the game.
When you load up the game on your PlayStation Vita, you'll be prompted to download the patch. It's a 1190MB patch meant for general stability fixes and performance optimizations. That's quite a hefty patch. Combined with the size of the full game download, which is 3.3GB, the patch brings the total size of the game to about 4.5GB — more than the standard 4GB PS Vita memory card could hold. Time to go upgrade if you haven't.
Killzone: Mercenary picks up where the first KillZone left off as you play through a lot of the events from the Killzone trilogy.
