PlayStation 4 exclusive Horizon: Zero Dawn is reportedly coming to PC, according to Kotaku. Renowned journalist Jason Schrier says 3 sources familiar with Sony’s plans have confirmed this news and say it’ll mark a new strategy for Sony.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is being planned as the first of many first-party PlayStation exclusives on PC. While Death Stranding has already been confirmed for the platform with a summer 2020 release, Kojima Productions operates independently of Sony. There are no other PlayStation games currently rumored for PC but journalist Tom Phillips teased Dreams in a tweet.
Sony has not officially announced any of this but a Steam page went up for the game last year. Hopefully, an announcement isn’t too far away.
Sony seems to be taking a “platform agnostic” approach this decade by expanding beyond just PlayStation. On top of PC, MLB The Show has been officially confirmed to make its way to other consoles like Xbox starting in 2021.
Microsoft has been taking a very similar strategy for most of the generation by allowing players to play Xbox exclusives like Gears of War, Halo, and Sea of Thieves on PC. Rumors also indicate that Microsoft is looking into expanding some titles to Nintendo Switch.
All in all, it looks like we’re going to be entering a very different but incredibly bright generation. We’ll be sure to keep you posted if/when Sony officially announces Horizon: Zero Dawn for PC.
