Horror title Sadness set for Wii U release after Wii cancellation

Polish developer Nibris announced monochromatic horror title Sadness when the Wii was still busy breaking records, but was canned before it ever saw the light of day. Fortunately, developers HullBreach Studios and Cthulhi Games are working to revive it.

Sadness was pitched as a black and white horror game in which players assume the role of a woman protecting her blind, paranoid schizophrenic, narcoleptic son in a pre-World War I Ukraine. With two new studios backing it, this unlikely concept is now aiming for a release on Wii U in 2016.

“Without a doubt, the original concept is a huge inspiration to us,” the new devs told NintendoLife. “We will be sticking to the original idea pretty closely, but don’t be surprised if there are some changes here and there in terms of characters, mechanics and setting. Visually, the new sadness will retain the Gothic noir scheme with a few exceptions.”

Sadness isn’t the only cancellation to crop up lately, though it looks like this third-person Call of Duty will never see a release.
