How to get a free copy of Final Fantasy 1 mobile

On the heels of yesterday’s soft launch of Final Fantasy 7 mobile, Square Enix today released its Final Fantasy Portal app. Although set up as a one-stop shop for Final Fantasy news, the app also includes access to the Triple Triad card game and a free copy of Final Fantasy 1.

As Eurogamer reports, through the remainder of August the Portal app can be used to download FF1 mobile free of charge, provided you run the game through the Portal app. Fortunately, despite the wealth of microtransactions stuffed into Triple Triad, both the Portal app and FF1 are no-strings-attached. Regular use of the portal app will also build points which can be redeemed for smartphone backgrounds.

iOS users will need a fourth generation device or newer, as well as iOS 7.0 or later to run the app. Android users need to be running Android 4.0 or newer. The Portal app can be found on the App Store and Google Play.
