How to get the best graphics in GTA 5 on your PC

So, you bought Grand Theft Auto 5 for your PC and you want to ensure you're viewing the best graphics possible with your rig. You might have opened up the graphics panel, looked at the setting and hit a button that chose the options for you.

This might have left you unsatisfied. Don't worry — we scour the internet so you don't have to. YouTuber Williextreme has created a video that compares a number of different settings: water quality, grass quality, post FX, depth of field and more.

These comparisons revealed a number of things (for mid-range and high-end PCs):

• Ambient Occlusion is a waste of fps
• Anisotropic Filtering doesn't affect the performance
• Grass Quality can kill your game performance
• Extended Distance Scalling doesn't effect the details as much as you'd think, but it does reduce performance
• Some shadow can only be seen on Very High shadow quality

If you have a mid-range PC you might want to try out these settings:

• Texture Quality: High / Very High (depending on VRAM)
• Shader Quality: Normal / High
• Shadow Quality: High
• Reflection Quality: High
• Water Quality: High
• Grass Quality: Normal / High

• Post FX: Normal / High
• Antialiasing: FXAA / MSAAx2
• Reflection MSAA: Off
• Anisotropic Filtering: x16
• Ambient Occlusion: Off
• Tessellation: Off / Normal

• Distance Scaling: 0 – max
• Extended Distance Scaling: 0
• High Resolution Shadows: Off
• Extended Shadow Distance: Off
