How to pre-load and access the Destiny 2 Beta

Because waiting to do it on the day of the Beta is silly!

Now that we are fairly well versed in the features included in the upcoming Destiny 2 beta and known beta issues. We can turn our attention towards actually getting the beta on our console before Destiny 2's beta opens up to early access players on July 18th for PS4 owners and on July 19th for Xbox One owners, then to console players on July 21st.

First off, you can attach your Blizzard account to Bungie's website — which should help all you PC players out there (but you'll still be waiting until August for the PC beta). Also, you can win yourself early access to the beta here.

Now let's get into the details for Early Access:

If you pre-ordered Destiny 2 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One early access to the beta will kick off next week on July 18th (PS4) and July 19th (Xbox One). Players are not required to have an active PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Subscription to participate in the Destiny 2 Beta, however, you will definitely want one if you want to experience the beta in full.

Players who have pre-ordered from a participating retailer will receive a 9-digit Early Access code (check your receipt), which must be redeemed on Bungie.net. If you have pre-ordered from a participating retailer but have not yet received your Early Access code, contact your retailer.

To retrieve your Destiny 2 Beta Client Download Code, please follow the steps below:

  • Sign-in to Bungie.net – Create or sign into a Bungie.net account using PlayStation 4 or Xbox Live credentials

  • Redeem the Early Access Pre-order Code – Enter the Destiny 2 Early Access Beta Code provided by the retailer on Bungie.net/redeem

  • Retrieve the Destiny 2 Beta Download Code – visit your redeemed codes page on Bungie.net and select your console of choice

  • Redeem the Destiny 2 Beta Client Download Code – Log into a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One console to redeem the Destiny 2 Beta Client code

If you pre-ordered digitally you will be granted access to the Destiny 2 Beta without needing to redeem codes of any form. The Destiny 2 Beta Client will become available on the PlayStation Store or Xbox Live Marketplace automatically. If players attempt to access the Destiny 2 Beta prior to availability, they will be met with “Destiny Servers Unavailable” error messaging.

Remember, you'll need to be signed into the account in which you’ve digitally pre-ordered Destiny 2 to download the Destiny 2 Beta Client.
