How to turn your phone into a 3D Hologram Projector

Someone quick, make a Princess Leia hologram video!

Are you looking for a new party trick to impress your friends? Running low on friends and looking for a way to entertain yourself? You can stop looking, because an awesome little project has popped up. The best thing about it is that it's entirely doable and that it works.

YoutTuber Mrwhosetheboss has put together a video showing us how to make our smartphones into 3D hologram projector — all with a few household items. That's right, this isn't some TV cooking show that uses ingredients that you can only find on the black market.

After you craft the apparatus, use YouTube and look up videos showcasing hologram technology (like this one or this Princess Leia one, but its so small). If you are extra crafty you can use Blender to create your own 3D video (if you do that and don't make Star Wars holograms I will be disappointed in you).

What you need:

  • Graph Paper
  • CD Case
  • Adhesive (tape, super glue)
  • Pen
  • Scissors
  • Smartphone
  • Box cutter, knife (something sharp enough to cut the CD case)

Note: Unless you were around before 2009, you might have a hard time locating a CD case in your house.
