GDC (Game Developers Conference) is a big event for Valve; it's where Steam was first announced to the world in 2002 and it might soon pave the way for new endeavors for the company. Oddly enough, the hint of what was to come during did not come from Valve (regardless of all the Steam Machine talk), but came from HTC's chairwoman, Cher Wang.
Wang revealed that HTC was working with Valve to bring the Vive VR headset to store shelves by the end of the year. She didn't stop with that tidbit though, she went on to say that HTC was also "co-operating with Half-life."
Wang did not specify if it was Half-Life 3, so keep the hypetrain at relatively safe speeds.
Simply mentioning Half-Life can breed a number of thoughts, but let us not forget that we live in an age were remakes are king — we could be getting remakes of the existing games.
It should be noted that Valve employees were 'shocked' by Wang's tease, as they claim they are not working on a Half-Life.
The comments made by Wang raised speculation that during Valve's presentation at GDC today they would be discussing or revealing something — they are not. A Valve representative will be speaking on a number of things (numerical integration, contact manifolds, destruction, etc.), none of which relate to this tease by Wang.
