Show them Skitters who's boss. TNT has just announced that it has renewed the sci-fi drama Falling Skies for a third season. Produced by Steven Spielberg, Falling Skies tells follows the 2nd Mass — a group of military and civilian survivors in the aftermath of an alien invasion. The aliens — called Skitters — harness children, which eventually turn them into Skitters, as well. Actors Will Patton and Noah Wyle lead the 2nd Mass as Captain Weaver and Tom Mason.
Falling Skies debuted on TNT last summer and opened Season 2 with an audience of 4.5 million viewers. Season 3 will premeire next summer.
I'm a huge fan of this show, so I'm really happy that, for once, a show I like is getting picked up for another season. While the acting can sometimes be a little cheesy, there's enough good moments to bring the viewer from one dramatic event to the next. Noah Wyle really shines as the logical, learn-from-our-history Tom Mason, and Will Patton is, well, Will Patton. He's always the same, but he's good.
I look forward to seeing where Season 3 brings the 2nd Mass, Tom Mason, and his three sons — Hal, Matt and Ben.
You can watch Season 2 of Falling Skies on Sundays at 9:00 PM ET only on TNT.
