Humble Indie Bundle #3 Is Here

One of the year’s best deals on indie games gives small-time developers the credit they deserve and also happens to be for charity. The Humble Indie Bundle #3 (aka The Humble Frozenbyte Bundle) is back with five indie games by none other than Frozenbyte. Included is the puzzle/platformer Trine, which has players switching between a Knight, Thief and Wizard to solve environmental puzzles; Shadowgrownds and its sequel Shadowgrownds: Survivor, a futuristic top-down shooter with upgradeable weaponry and some nasty aliens to gun down; the source code to an unfinished and unreleased game called Jack Claw, which gives players a long robotic arm to crush and throw enemies with; and a pre-order for Splot.

All of these games are not only DRM-free, but also compatible with PC, Mac and Linux, with the exception of Jack Claw.

The neat thing about these Humble bundles is that you can literally pay however much you want. For $1 or $1,000 and any number in between–the price is up to you. After you set the price, you can designate where you want the funds to go. Should the developers get most of the cut, or should all of it go to charity? The decision is yours. By default, though, a portion of your cash goes straight to the Child’s Play Charity and Electronic Frontier Foundation. The last bundle made a total of $1,825,893.47 with some of the top contributors listed as Onlive.com with $5,000, Minecraft’s Notch with $2,000, and the Riot Games Dev Team with $1,500. Interestingly, Linux users were the top contributors to the last bundle, with Mac users coming in second, and PC users placing last. Will PC users step it up this year?
