Hypocritical 4chan users troll EA’s Star Wars Battlefront with mean, but kinda truthful website

In what might've been oversight on Electronic Arts' part, a group of anonymous users on 4chan were able to buy domains suggestive of the new Star Wars Battlefront.

The domains eastarwars.com and eastarwarsbattlefront, both of which were left unregistered, now direct users to sites in which EA is bashed for essentially ruining the Star Wars Battlefront franchise and "killing" a number of other game companies.

Is it childish? Probably. But here's the thing… based on what EA has revealed about the new Battlefront game, it's not too inaccurate. Both sites feature a list all of the features from 2005's Star Wars Battlefront 2 that have been omitted from the new game, and it's quite lengthy. It essentially points out how we're paying more for less content and less features, a complaint we're seeing more often with the practice of downloadable content. Meanwhile, eastarwars.com also lists a number of EA's "victims" — Origin, Maxis, Pandemic, BioWare, etc. The song "Come, Sweet Death" from anime Evangelion plays automatically.

I'd say this is the result of gamers fed up with EA's shoddy business practices who just want to be heard, but according to the /v/ boards, the anonymous user posts that they want to "extort EA into eventually forking over some money." So really, it's all about greed which makes the anonymous user a hypocrite just as evil as the company he's bashing. And really, without actually having played the game, is anyone in position to complain about it? Give it a chance, sheesh. Less features doesn't automatically mean lesser quality.

Nevertheless, it's a funny prank that, despite the user's intention, is kinda accurate. EA is notorious for snatching up game companies and, well, kinda driving them into the ground.

Now, EA's official website for Star Wars Battlefront is starwars.ea.com, but what makes the trolling so effective is that the official Twitter handle for the game is @EAStarWars.
