Hyrule Warriors won't support online co-op gameplay, the Wii U game's official Twitter account confirmed last week. On the bright side, players will at least be able to play together locally.
The tweet falls in line with the official product listing from GameStop which reads: "Two players can play local co-op, with one player joining with the Wii U GamePad controller and another with the Wii U Pro Controller or Wii Remote + Nunchuk controllers (additional accessories are sold separately)."
I get that there's a nostalgic desire for couch co-op, especially during a time when most publishers are leaning towards online support, but I'm still baffled by the fact that it's 2014 and Nintendo still doesn't seem to understand how important online play actually is. It may not be as personable as couch co-op, but it's just so much more convenient.
A Nintendo Direct focusing on The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors mash-up is to be held tonight, though it's unclear exactly what Nintendo plans to reveal. You can tune in to the live broadcast tonight at 8:00pm PT/11:00pm ET.
