The rewards for completing the weekly Nightfall in Destiny suck right now — plain and simple. Even Bungie admitted as much when design lead Luke Smith this week referred to the Nightfall rewards as "underwhelming," while promising a fix.
Prior to Year Two, completing the Nightfall would reward you with a reputation buff that increased all reputation, experience, and mark gained by 25 percent until the next weekly reset. Bungie did away with that buff with The Taken King in order to "reform it into something closer to its original intent – a mark of prestige for having achieved something challenging." Unfortunately, removing that buff has made completing the Nightfall kind of a waste because of the lame drops, some of which don't even hit 280 Light
Thankfully a fix is on the way, and it's coming sooner than we expected.
In Bungie's weekly blog post, the developer promised "another update inbound as soon as next week that will deliver more frequent and more powerful Legendary rewards to the Nightfall loot tables."
Bungie is keeping the specific numbers a mystery until the patch notes. "And, of course, the best reality about the nature of those rewards will be found in your feedback," Bungie's David 'DeeJ' Dague added.
