In what can only be described as an awesome move, Nintendo has decided to celebrate the mini Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition by uploading the first thirteen years of Nintendo Power to the internet, free to all who want them via the internet archive. If you're going retro for the Mini, why not pick up the free Nintendo Power volumes to help you refresh your memory or introduce yourself to how these old games worked?
Gaming magazines are a bit of nostalgia that every gamer from the late 80's to 90's shares. Back in our day, when all of the answers weren't just an internet search away, we had to go to a local store's magazine stand, or wait for the mail man to bring us the tips and tricks we needed to beat particularly tricky games. Often times these magazines were filled with news, tips, codes, letters, fan art, and other generally interesting content, to the point that getting one was just as good, if not better than playing a new game.
Hopefully we can reclaim a bit of that magic down the road: This is a great move by Nintendo, and it seems to be another bit of publicity for retro gaming magazines making a come back:
