It's happening! Twitch is holding an inaugural TwitchCon in San Francisco where Twitch streamers will meet other Twitch streamers and the viewers that support them — the ones that donate money to their streams, the ones that spam the streams chat, and even the people that SWAT them.
The event will be held at the Moscone West convention center in San Fran, the very convention center that a number of huge events are held at: GDC, Microsoft's Build conference, Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, and more. So, yeah, you could say TwitchCon is going to be 'legit.'
The events, schedules and content have yet to be revealed, but Emmett Shear released a statement to the press on TwitchCon:
“Twitch broadcasters have the most passionate fans, so we want to create an amazing experience where they can come together in person. TwitchCon will be an opportunity for the entire community – broadcasters, game developers, viewers, and us – to play and learn together.”
The event will be held on September 25 – 26, 2015.
Updates on event and schedules will be posted to the TwitchCon homepage and Twitch Twitter feed. Twitch Plays Pokemon better be woven into the event somehow.
Soon, we will have a con for everything. I want a UstreamCon, a ValveCon, a SteamCon! I want it all!
