Infamous, Sly Cooper developer Sucker Punch endures new wave of layoffs

Sony Computer Entertainment America today confirmed that Sucker Punch, a studio best known for the Infamous and Sly Cooper series, and one which Sony owns, has suffered layoffs.

The somber news comes from a statement Sony issued to IGN:

“SCEA can confirm a reduction in workforce has taken place at Sucker Punch Productions. Sucker Punch is appreciative of the tremendous work team members contributed to the inFAMOUS and Sly  Cooper series, and wishes them the best in their next endeavors.”

No further details were given, leaving the scale and depth of the layoffs to speculation. Forebodingly, however, Sony’s statement specifically mentions those involved in Sly Cooper, which hasn’t seen a release from Sucker Punch since 2005 (2013’s Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time was developed by Sanzaru Games).
