Infinity Ward wants Infinite Warfare to become a new Call of Duty franchise

Earlier this year Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was revealed to the dismay of many fans, so you would think Infinity Ward would be taking a cautious approach to marketing this game as we gear up for the release but they appear to be incredibly confident in the sci-fi shooter.

Narrative director on Infinite Warfare, Taylor Kurosaki, has expressed the studios confidence in the next step for the FPS giant and thinks that Infinite Warfare could remain a mainstay in the whole series like Black Ops. “We want to establish our own new sub-franchise,” said Kurosaki in an interview with Polygon. “Our own new branch of the Call of Duty tree.”

He went on to confirm they have already started planning room for future titles in the Infinite Warfare series. “What we are developing here could certainly support multiple games,” Kurosaki continued. “We’re trying to develop a very rich world that we’re not even close to exhausting.”

Kurosaki also acknowledged that this isn't the first massive leap that the series has taken and that went on to change the genre. “I’m sure that the Infinity Ward team felt the same kind of tremendous burden when they went from World War II to modern warfare,”

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is Infinity Ward's first chance back in the saddle after Call of Duty: Ghosts failed miserably for the studio (which was also setting up a sequel). Hopefully the studio can nail the game and prove that there is nothing to worry about when the game launches this November on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. If all else fails, at least they have Call of Duty 4 remastered!
