People have been wondering just how long the Nintendo 3DS will last per battery charge. It was revealed during Nintendo World 2011 that the battery life of the next-gen handheld will only last between three and five hours. This is a bit of a letdown considering the current DSi XL can last over 15 hours on a single charge. But really, didn’t we all see this coming? After all, projecting those snazzy 3D visuals has to be power-consuming. At least the 3DS will ship with an inlcuded charging dock.
Gamers playing regular DS games on the handheld will be able to squeeze up to eight hours of playtime out of the system which is still a lot less than some of the current DS models. It’s been confirmed that the charging period for the 3DS will take about three and a half hours. I think we can all expect an updated 3DS shortly after its initial launch.
