Innovative game Another World celebrates 20 years with Steam release

The highly innovative and revered Another World (also called Out of This World), a precursor action-platform game, is commemorating its 20th anniversary with a release on Steam for PC and Mac.

A classic cult favorite, Another World released in 1991 and has been ported to nearly a dozen platforms. It's gained more exposure recently at New York's Museum of Modern Art (MoMA).

The new 20th Anniversary Edition on Steam boasts high-definition graphics and remastered sound effects. It includes three difficulty modes, including an easier mode than the "crazy hard" original and one that's more suited to skilled players.

The title costs $9.99 on Steam and supports 13 achievements and Big Picture, Valve's PC-to-television solution. Purchases also come with behind-the-scenes materials (a development diary, making-of video, and technical handbook).

Developers Eric Chahi and DotEmu combined their efforts to make the version possible. Focus Home Interactive is the publisher.

Another World is also available on current platforms iOS and Android.
