It’s been roughly a decade since we got a really great Spider-Man game but in just a little over two weeks, that looks to change. With Insomniac Games’ PS4 exclusive Spider-Man game, fans are going to be treated to a gorgeous and enthralling story starring Marvel’s iconic hero.
Since its reveal in 2016, we’ve all been drooling over the beautiful trailers and screenshots but now, some fans seem to think there’s been a bit of a graphical downgrade for the wall-crawler’s new game. Spider-Man has been showcased almost entirely on PS4 Pro prior to release but now some believe that the game doesn’t look as good as it did when it was shown off previously.
In a new trailer, Insomniac showcased Spidey’s combat abilities and gadgets. Some fans were quick to note that they were seeing previously demoed sections on the current build of the game and the visuals weren’t totally up to snuff.
Insomniac Games’ community director James Stevenson said on Twitter that the game hasn’t been downgraded but merely the lighting has changed. “The sun’s position has moved during development and this moment’s lighting changed. The compression of the video and motion blur is losing some detail – but the shot is every bit as detailed as it was in 2016”
Have no fear, crime fighters! The game will still look very pretty, it’s just YouTube’s compression and some lighting changes affecting what you see. Regardless, we’ll be able to really tell for ourselves when the game drops here in a few weeks.
Spider-Man will release exclusively on PlayStation 4 on September 7th.
