Hey guys! Like guns and shooting people in the face? Hate the Call of Duty crowd and dealing with 10 year olds calling you a noob? Then boy is Insurgency the game for you!
Forget about HUDS or regenerating health. Insurgency does away with that and instead sticks with realism, making every bullet count. That means a single shot can, and probably will, kill you.
Our very own Lance Liebl played the Insurgency Alpha, and while for the most part, liked the game's hardcore nature, he did note that the game's community does need to grow a bit, and that the game could use a little more development time.
The great news is that Insurgency has officially left Alpha phase and entered Beta. That means you'll certainly see improvements to the game, and know that the team is hard at work trying to make the game that much better.
Along with the announcement of Beta, there are two new Gameplay Modes for players to take part in, Outpost and VIP Escort. Outpost will pit players against increasingly harder waves of enemies, and will make players utilize teamwork to stay a live as long as they can. VIP Escort will pick one player to be the VIP, and the other players must escort him through the level, utilizing different routes in order to avoid the enemy team and keep the VIP safe.
You can currently pick up Insurgency on Steam right here, and be part of the journey that is Early Access.
Here is some extra info about the game taken directly from Steam:
- INSURGENCY is leading an indie revival of the tactical shooter genre. Take to the streets for intense close quarters combat, where a team's survival depends upon securing crucial strongholds.
- This game is highly competitive and unforgivingly lethal. It strikes a balance between one-life gameplay and prolonged action. This means no cross-hairs, realistic weapon damage, and careful maneuvering.
- Realistic weapons handling and equipment load-outs combined with simple heads-up-display and user interface keep players immersed in the fight.
- INSURGENCY'S game modes create a distinctive experience from other first-person-shooters. Capturing objectives prolongs the entire team's opportunity to achieve victory. Matches often become an epic tug of war as both teams struggle to gain control of objective areas. Multiplayer modes support up to 32 players, while Co-op modes support 6 players.
