It sure is a fascinating week for the Xbox Game Studios and especially two of their new members. Yesterday, Obsidian who is held in high regard for their RPG expertise, launched the co-op survival adventure Grounded. And today the other RPG experts at inXile have shared their departure from their regular game output.
High-End PvP in VR
Players are matched into 10v10 teams and coordinate their tactics through approach, strategy, and gear to dominate the enemy team through beautiful maps and engaging game modes like capture and control.Unique Sci-fi Setting
Teams will fight for control of a forgotten military base in Antarctica where other players aren’t the only enemy. Gear up and charge forward to deal with the opposing team and protect yourself from the constant, otherworldly biomechanical threat.Highly Detailed Weapons
Over a dozen rifles and pistols have been recreated in painstaking detail, allowing you to realistically hold each with one or two hands, and load, rack, fire, and clear them, as well as change firing modes. Tools and munitions help round out your arsenal, including grenades, health kits, armor upgrades, turrets, and tracking upgrades.
Frostpoint VR is a team-based online first-person shooter that’s entirely designed around virtual reality. The title is aiming to launch on PC sometime this year with support for Oculus and SteamVR.
With matches where 20 players are duking it out in intense combat, Frostpoint VR is decidedly aiming to be the real deal. No compromises are here with large teams of up to 10 players on multiple maps. With a projected release window this year, we expect to learn much more about it soon.
InXile’s other major game release for the year, Wasteland 3, in the meantime is nearing its launch of August 28th with brisk steps. Interestingly enough, that too features a winter setting.
