PC World, meanwhile, has said that developers at the iPhone Dev-Team blog have already managed to get a tethered jailbreak working, using redsn0w, for non-A5 devices.
The team had originally warned those with jailbroken iPhones, iPads, and iPods to not update to 5.1 due to the possibility of the firmware update may cause users to lose their jailbreak. But it looks like they have now found a solution.
Anyone with an iPad 2 or iPhone 4S using iOS 5.1 can do a tethered jailbreak using Redsn0w 0.910b6, thanks tot he limera1n exploit by "geohot". Owners of previous models or an iPod Touch can also try the new jailbreak, but with caution. The team has said anyone with an old-bootrom 3GS can jailbreak without needing to tether the device.
