Last week, the new iPad, or iPad 3, began seeing shipping delays as initial pre-orders sold out. At the time, new pre-orders for the iPad 3 had a delay until March 19th – three days after the official March 16th release. Shipping dates in Europe had a two to three week delay.
As I expected, demand for the new iPad resulted in further delays, with U.S. pre-order customers now having to wait an additional two to three weeks to receive the iPad 3.
Listed on the Apple store, the new iPad, in any color, model, or size, will ship in two to three weeks, meaning if you pre-order now you probably won't receive it until the end of the month or even April.
Apple announced the new iPad at an event in San Francisco on Wednesday of last week. New features include a Retina display packing 3.1 million pixels, or four-times as many pixels as the iPad 2, a five-megapixel camera, 4G LTE, and 1080p video recording.
Given the popularity and buzz surrounding the new iPad, I would expect shipping delays to only increase as more and more people pre-order the iPad 3.
Prices for the new iPad begin at $499 and increase from there depending on size and model. Check out our full iPad 3 pricing breakdown here and pre-order yours today, before further delays.
