Iron Fist will most likely feature Steel Serpent, but no dragon Shao-Lou

Iron Fist hits Netflix this Friday, and we still don't know much about the premise regarding Danny Rand's primary enemy. Even though The Hand is lurking above as the overall enemy for the series as well as The Defenders, the Iron Fist villain has not been revealed yet. Luke Cage had Cottonmouth and Diamondback, Daredevil had the Punisher but nothing for Iron Fist yet. This changed today thanks to a new interview with Yahoo.

Finn Jones, who plays Iron Fist's Danny Rand, spoke to Yahoo about some characters that will be featured in the series. He was asked specifically about Steel Serpent, and of course, he gave a bit of a coy response.

"Maybe that’s what we were just errr… My publicist is looking at me with devil eyes," the actor laughed. "Hey look, that’s going to be announced very soon so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s announced before these [interviews] even come to print."

Of course, it hasn't been announced yet, but Steel Serpent would make for some incredible story lines in the series. In the series, Steel Serpent failed to defeat the dragon Shao-Lou and become the Iron Fist himself, which made him return a failure to K'un-Lun. He ended up tracking Danny to NYC where he stole his power. Danny than absorbed his power back upon defeating Steel Serpent for good. This being said, Jones did indicate that the dragon he absorbed the power of the Iron Fist from, Shao-Lou, will not be featured in the show.

"I’d love to have the budget for these shows to have a full-on Game of Thrones style dragon. But unfortunately you know, we have budget restraints. That’s the nature of the show. We do allude to it in Iron Fist, in a very intelligent way. And definitely in The Defenders… but I think, you know, we’ve got to be realistic."

Other than budgetary reasons, it's pretty unrealistic to have the history of Danny at K'un-Lun with Shao-Lou in only 13 episodes with his journey to NYC and tying it into the Defenders without it being rushed. Of course, we'd still love to see the huge dragon, but if just referencing it means the show will pace better for quality than so be it.

Iron Fist hits Netflix this Friday, March 17th with the full 13 episode season. We'll have our review up as soon as we can, so be sure to stay locked at Gamezone for all updates on Iron Fist
