There's currently a lot going on in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On top of the Marvel-Sony deal for Spider-Man, Avenger: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man soon release, a new version of Spider-Man is going to be introduced in Captain America: Civil War. So on top of all that, we might as well overload you with Spider-man rumors, right?
Latino Review is reporting that Marvel and Kevin Feige is in love with adjectives and want to call the new three-part movie series "Spectacular Spider-Man." The films will come out over three consecutive summers, and the former director of The Sinister Six, Drew Goddard, will write and direct the new Spider-Man film. Other details included in the report is that the new film won't be an origin story, as they've already done that twice now, and it will be as if Spider-Man already existed. This is smart, because no one want to sit through an origin story for the third time in 10 years for one character. We get it… his uncle dies and there's great responsibility and he gets bit by a spider, blah blah blah.
Another big piece of rumor-tastic news is that Iron Man will be appearing in the new film, and that Spider-Man will be fighting him. Supposedly, Spidey will be trying to pass an audition to join the Avengers. This could explain why Robert Downey Jr. was teasing the big announcement on behalf of Marvel. And seeing as how RDJ and Iron Man jump-started this whole comic book movie craze in 2008, what better person to help bring along Spider-Man.
In other news, there's a post on the Spider-Man subreddit where a user claims that Dylan O'Brien will be the new Spider-Man/Peter Parker, as Sony felt O'Brien had a better grasp and feel of the tone they want. It seems to be the same user that dropped the news of the Marvel/Sony deal, so take that for what it's worth.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron releases on May 1 2015; Ant-Man on July 17 2015;, Captain America: Civil War on May 6 2016; Doctor Strange on November 4 2016; Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on May 5 2017; Spider-Man on July 28, 2017; Thor: Ragnarok on November 3 2017; Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 on May 4 2018; Black Panther on July 6 2018; Captain Marvel on November 2 2018; Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2 on May 3 2019; and Inhumans on July 12, 2019.
