If Bungie's recent filing of three trademark applications with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) is any indication, then it sounds like Destiny will be getting a player trading system.
As discovered by Gamespot, Bungie on May 19th filed trademark applications for three things, all related to something "Eververse": "Eververse", "Eververse Trading Co.", and a third pertaining to the "Eververse" logo seen attached.
All three trademark applications carry various uses from video game software to graphic novels, to Halloween costumes and toys, to "providing online retail services in the field of video games".
Bungie has yet to announce anything called Eververse for Destiny, but it's possible this could be related to the game's "biggest addition" Activision teased last month. Speaking during last month's earnings call, the publisher teased plans for additional content dropping throughout the summer, leading up to a "major content release" this fall. However, there has been no mention of Eververse, and previous trademark filings suggested the presumed expansion could be "The Taken King."
The "Eververse Trading Co." trademark could also suggest that a player trading system is on the way. Though Bungie has been on the fence about such a feature, it's one of most requested fan features, and it's something Bungie has mixed feelings on.
At the same time, we don't even know if these trademarks are related to Destiny, so take all of this with a grain of salt.
