A lot has been made about the PS4 Pro and how it handles game performance. Naturally, we've written plenty on the positive and negative outcomes across several of these titles. One of the things that have been holding the Pro back is its lack of universal support across all games. Sony appears to be coming up with a solution that might be able to circumvent that issue, at least somewhat.
A few leaked screenshots have emerged online pointing to a feature called "Boost Mode" that will let players "Experience improved gameplay, including higher frame rates, for some games that were released before the introduction of the PS4 Pro."
Here's that screenshot.
Now just to be clear, this doesn't magically mean that all of your old games are suddenly going to render at 60 FPS at all times. Even games with Pro patches have struggled to maintain the framerate at all times, so expect this feature to be something more akin to a band-aid solution rather than an outright replacement.
Either way, it's still very cool to see.
