J.J. Abrams spills details Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the Starkiller Base and General Hux

Earlier today, Star Wars: The Force Awakens' director J.J. Abrams offered some clarification on the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker. Now, Abrams has gone on to illuminate us on what exactly that giant planet-like ship was behind Finn's head in the official theatrical poster for the film (as seen above).

Now, if you're looking to stay away from spoilers — even mild spoilers — we suggest that you click away or avert your eyes some how.

That floating orb behind Finn's head is none other than the Starkiller Base, which is the command center for the Imperial remnant known as the First Order. According to Abrams the Starkiller base is acknowledged as "another Death Star." Abrams went on to tell EW what makes the Starkiller unique,  “But what it’s capable of, how it works, and what the threat is, is far greater than what the Death Star could have done. Starkiller Base is another step forward, technologically speaking, in terms of power.”

The Starkiller base might be the very reason the sky is red in trailer (during the forest footage), it could have blown up a nearby by star that was killed by the… Starkiller (dunn dunn dunn). The death of a star in a solar system could mean death to all life on the planets that use the star's light as support to survive.

In The Force Awakens, Domhnall Gleeson will be taking the role of General Hux, the commander of the First Order (who inhabit the Starkiller). According to Gleeson, Hux won't have a signature weapon in the film like Kylo Ren, the orderly commander sees it beneath him to doll out the punishment he orders – that's what his lackeys are for.

Do Hux and Ren work together in their quest for evil? Gleeson revealed that Hux and Ren's relationship is complicated at best. “He’s kind of opposite Kylo Ren,” said Gleeson. “They have their own relationship, which is individual and unusual. One of them is strong in different ways than the other. They’re both vying for power.”
