J.K. Rowling keeps to her yearly ritual and ‘apologizes’ for killing another Harry Potter character

Harry Potter fans have their quirks, and one of them is (mostly) jokingly losing their minds over the death of various characters throughout the books. As a result, J.K. Rowling has made it a yearly tradition to "apologize" via social media over the death of one character. Today, May 2nd is a special day in the Harry Potter timeline as it marks the 19 year anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts, where the Boy Who Lived vanquished the Dark Lord, Voldemort in 1998.

Rowling has previously apologized for Professor Remus Lupin and (of course) Fred Weasley, but this year she chose to tackle the mysterious Severus Snape. Here's what she had to say on Twitter.

Snape's arc in the Harry Potter series is one of, if not the deepest of any character in the entire storyline. While Rowling masterfully sets him up as a verbally abusive professor culminating into THAT act he committed at the end of Half-Blood Prince, before giving him an entirely new meaning through his backstory and his ultimate sacrifice in Deathly Hallows.

If you haven't read the Harry Potter series, you are seriously missing out, as the books, particularly the latter ones make the films look like child's play.
