In perhaps the most interesting twist in Legendary's film adaptation of the British legend Robin Hood, the studio has reportedly cast Jamie Foxx to play Little John.
In addition to breaking the casting news, Deadline also shared some details on the character. Foxx will play the "battle-hardened but war-weary veteran of The Crusades" opposite Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) as the title character.
In this particular "gritty" retelling of the legend, the two begin as enemies, having fought on opposite sides during the Crusades, but eventually band together to face the injustice and corruption plaguing Sherwood Forest.
Legendary's Robin Hood: Origins is slated to hit theaters sometime in 2017. Otto Bathhurst (Peaky Blinders) is at the helm, with a script from Joby Harold.
