Sensed something familiar about Uptown Funk? This may provide an explanation for your ears. (If you're thinking it's Michael Jackson's Jam, try again.)
Soundcloud user Joshua Taipale made a game-themed mashup a few weeks ago, which combines the Boss Theme from Sonic CD's Japan soundtrack with Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson.
It's a short edit, but the two merge rather well without significant slowdown, as is sometimes the case for mashups of this ilk.
Now that the framework has been set, perhaps he or someone else in the Sonic community will make a full-length version.
