A janitor almost threw away a pre-release Nintendo Labo unit

Well, we can't blame them.

Nintendo has had their fair share of pretty unique and innovative hardware but their newest creation is by far the most bizarre and non-traditional. Earlier this week, Nintendo announced Nintendo Labo, literal cardboard that enhances some specific games for the Nintendo Switch. It’s hard to explain but it’s a thing that is going to cost about $80 when it releases, you can click here to get a more in-depth breakdown of Nintendo Labo.

With that out of the way, before Labo was announced, a German ratings board almost threw their pre-release unit away! Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle (Entertainment Software Self-Regulation) told the story via Twitter where a janitor was cleaning up the offices and they almost mistook it as a piece of regular ol’ cardboard.

“Finally we can tell the story, when we had the latest Nintendo hardware, it was almost dumped by the cleaning crew as waste paper,” the tweet said when translated to English. “In the past no one would have believed this story, anyway.”

Common mistake! Surely this won’t be the last time we hear a story like this. The Nintendo Labo is scheduled for an April 20th, 2018 release, so if you want to combine any other recreational activities while you play with cardboard on 4/20… be our guest.
