January 2015’s Games with Gold announced for Xbox One and Xbox 360

While the tail-end of 2014 has been a bit of disappointment for Xbox LIVE Gold members when it comes to free games through Games with Gold, Microsoft is kicking off the new year with a bang.

"You probably know by now that being an Xbox Live Gold member gets you free games every month. You may have seen by now that some really cool stuff has been given away totally free as a result of this program. But January 2015 really, really takes the cake so far," Microsoft teased today.

Kicking off the new year, January 2015 will see the following games released for free through Games with Gold:

Xbox One

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die (Normally $14.99) Available January 1 – 31, 2015

From the mind of Japanese designer Swery (Hidetaka Suehiro), developer of Deadly Premonition, comes D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die. In this action adventure you'll play as David Young, a time traveling detective who sets out to solve his wife's murder in order to prevent it from happening.

Xbox 360

MX vs. ATV Alive  (Normally $19.99) Available January 1-15, 2015

Whether dirt bikes or four-wheel ATVs, MX vs. ATV Alive gives you tons of options for getting your wheels in the dirt. Each ride has its own physical feel and control style. When you're done breaking all the A.I. records, you can challenge your friends.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings (Normally $29.99) Available January 16-31, 2015

With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt due out in 2015, now's a great chance for you to dive into this massive RPG series. Featuring a rich storyline, deep characters, and a complex combat system that combines deep tactical elements with dynamic action The Witcher 2 will take you on an epic adventure in a vibrant, living world where your decisions have far-reaching consequences.

For those of you getting a new Xbox this year, it's not a bad start to the year to get one, two, maybe even three games for free.
