Jawdropping metroidvania Record of Lodoss War Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth out soon

The highly-promising Metroidvania Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth- just got a new trailer showing off the brilliant pixel art and smooth gameplay. But there’s more. Publisher Playism also shared the good news that the game will launch on Steam Early Access on March 13th. Watch the new trailer below!

Now here is a future hidden gem if I ever saw one. Don’t let yourself be deceived by neither the anime roots nor the overused Metroidvania/pixel art combo. Record of Lodoss War Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth has a very solid pedigree backing it up. Developed by Team Ladybug who most recently rocked the indie scene with the superb Touhou Luna Nights, there’s little doubt that the developers know how to create excellent Metroidvania with striking pixel art.

Record of Lodoss War might ring a bell if you watched classic 90s anime. The fantasy series had a popular anime series at the start of that decade and spawned many game adaptions featuring the rich lore of the franchise. Sadly, only very few of these games were localized and even then, they remained firmly niche. Here’s to hoping that Record of Lodoss War  -Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth will buck this unfortunate trend for good.

Featuring “Deedlit” – beloved heroine and symbol of Record of Lodoss War – this latest installment fills in the gaps from the most recent novel in the series released in August 2019.
Deedlit awakens in a strange, unknown place. As she explores her surroundings, she encounters “”Ghim”” and more of her old friends. Where is this place? Receiving help from spirits including “”Sylph”” and “”Salamander””, Deedlit wanders this mysterious new world in search of answers…

Chances are better than ever at last. Metroidvanias are popular as ever these days and with Team Ladybug at the helm, there’s a good chance the final game will deliver. Another positive is that you immediately get reminded of one of the most revered Metroidvanias – Castlevania Symphony of the Night – at first glance.
