The Hunger Games' Jennifer Lawrence and Trainwreck's Amy Schumer are teaming up for a new comedy which they are both writing and plan to star in together.
According to The New York Times, the two breakout stars are currently writing the screenplay. "We play sisters," revealed Lawrence, who is currently in the middle of promoting The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2. “We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.”
Although we know nothing of the premise of the film, the fact that they will play sisters right off the bat gives me a Trainwreck kind of feel for the film. So I've got some high hopes for the movie. Of course, it will depend on the stars' chemistry on screen together, which sounds promising from what Lawrence said.
"Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life," she continued. "We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up."
Apparently, Schumer's sister Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing Trainwreck, is also helping work on the script for this new film.
Despite the growing popularity of both actresses, it might seem like an odd pairing to see Lawrence and Schumer together on screen. I mean, Schumer is a fearless comedian growing in popularity, while Lawrence, who I feel hasn't delved much into comedy, has been atop the Hollywood game for some time now. Although Lawrence seems naturally funny in her candid moments, can she pull it off on the big screen? Holding your own with Amy Schumer seems like an awfully challenging task. If Schumer's response to Lawrence spilling the beans on the film is any indiciation, the two seem to be working well together.
“I wrote, ‘I just spilled the beans to The New York Times. Is that O.K.?’” she said. “And Amy wrote back, ‘That you’re gay? Totally! It’s exciting!’”
