Jennifer Lawrence thinks it’s ‘too soon’ for Hunger Games spinoffs

Lawrence: "I wouldn't be involved"

Jennifer Lawrence, perhaps better known these days at Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire, believes it's "too soon" for Hunger Games prequels.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 was supposed to mark the end of the movie franchise based on the popular book series from author Suzanne Collins, but Lionsgate vice chairman Michael Burns recently hinted that the studio was exploring new plot lines and spinoff opportunities. Speaking at last week's UBS Global Media and Communications Conference, he compared the series to Harry Potter, saying it could "live on and on."

Asked for her take prequels and the prospect of returning to the franchise, Lawrence told Variety, "I wouldn't be involved."

"I think it's too soon," she continued. "They've got to let the body get cold, in my opinion."

While some Hunger Games fans might be disappointed to hear Lawrence has no plans to be involved, the actress may be right in her assessment that we need a break from the world of Panem. Although Mockingjay – Part 2 is still a box office hit, it's on pace to be the lowest grossing film of the series on a domestic basis.
