J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore Is an Online Game?

While details about J.K. Rowling’s mysterious Pottermore project won’t officially be released until Thursday via YouTube, several news sources have leaked that Pottermore is an online video game set in the Harry Potter universe.

According to the leaked memo, Pottermore will be a world that blends World of Warcraft with real world treasure hunts. The memo, which also outlines the public relations strategy of the project on through October 2011, refers to a “Quill Quest” and hints that Pottermore will involve wands that are “physically laced and found.”

For now, this is all heresay and speculation (Rebecca Salt, a spokeswoman for J.K. Rowling, has since denied the leak memo), J.K. Rowling’s official announcement on the project is set for Thursday at 4 a.m. Pacific time.

I think I can speak for many of us when I say we are all anxiously hoping the announcement is for an online game. I’ve always wanted to immerse myself into the world of Harry Potter.

In the meantime, check out the latest trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

You can view the Pottermore YouTube page here, although there isn’t much to see … YET!
